Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for April 2023 increased an estimated 2.6% across
the past 12 months, with the state’s economy adding 43,500 jobs since April 2022. Utah’s
current job count stands at 1,720,300. According to the update from the Department of
Workforce Services, employment in Daggett County jumped from 315 in February to 412
in April, employment in Duchesne County increased from 8,312 in February to 8,418 in
April, and employment in Uintah County increased from 13,902 in February to 14,066 in
April. Nine of ten major private-sector industry groups posted net job gains led by leisure
and hospitality services with 9,400 jobs, professional/business services with 6,800 jobs,
and education and health services with 6,200 jobs.
