Duchesne County leadership is making sure the County’s interests are part of the conversation as Ashley National Forest continues work on the Forest Plan update. Duchesne County Community Development Director Mike Hyde presented a letter addressed to the USDA Forest Service for the Duchesne County Commission’s consideration and approval during the Commission meeting. Hyde explained that the proposed plan is largely consistent with Duchesne County’s objectives and policies, however, if additional wilderness designations were to be recommended or if grazing management were altered then the Forest Plan would contradict Duchesne County’s own plan. The letter emphasizes that Duchesne County is interested in any and all specific objections that may be filed and they request the opportunity to participate in resolutions as they are developed. The Commissioners thanked Director Hyde for his work on the letter and approved the letter to be sent to the USDA Forest Service.
