Message From Uintah County Fire Marshal On Spring Burning

The spring burn window is still open and the Uintah County Fire Marshal has a message for the public. “We encourage residents to clean up their properties and be proactive when it comes to mitigating fire hazards around your home,” shares Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond. Uintah County’s spring burn window opened at the end of March and runs through May 30th. No burn permit is required but Dispatch MUST be notified of the burn at 435-789-4222. Vernal, Naples, and Ballard City have the same burn window but each DO require a permit to burn and Dispatch must be notified. “One of the biggest mistakes we see when responding to fires is not reporting your fire to our local dispatch and burning in the afternoon when we have winds,” explains Raymond. “Burn early in the morning and attend to the fire at all times. Follow local and state laws when burning. They can be found on our website at uintahfire.com. You may be liable for the cost to suppress the fire if it escapes control.”
