Reckless driving and driving under the influence resulted in a serious two vehicle accident on Saturday morning around 9am in Vernal. Kevin Murray was arrested following the accident that took place on Highway 40 near the Taco Bell intersection for the offenses of Negligently Operating A Vehicle Resulting In Injury, Driving With Measurable Controlled Substance, Operating A Vehicle Without Insurance, and Reckless Driving. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Central Dispatch received a call at 9:05am of a Silver Fiat speeding and traveling into oncoming traffic and just minutes later an accident was reported involving the Silver Fiat. Multiple witnesses said that the Fiat was traveling at high speeds and passing vehicles in the right hand turn lane. Murray ran the red light which resulted in the collision with another vehicle whose driver sustained bodily injury and was transported to the hospital. On the scene, Murray told the Officer that he was driving around town and having fun. He estimated his speeds to be around 100 to 110 miles per hour. At the hospital, Murray told the Officer he smoked about 2 bowls of marijuana at around 7am before going out for the drive.
