Red Bridge Fire On Uintah And Ouray Indian Reservation Nears Containment

The first wildfire of the season is nearing containment in Uintah County. Crews will continue to work today towards 100 percent containment on the Red Bridge Fire that initially posed a threat to infrastructure and residences. The Red Bridge Fire was reported at about 4:00pm on Sunday on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation located south of Four Corners and north of the Duchesne River. “Fire resources were called to the area and found a wildland fire running and spotting in river riparian consisting of cottonwoods, heavy brush, grass and cattails,” shared the BIA Forestry & Wildland Fire report. Crews on scene have included LapointTridell, Avalon, State of Utah Forestry Fire, US Forest Service, BLM, NPS, BIA, the Ute Tribe, and assistance was called in from the Utah National Guard for air resources. The fire was first estimated at 400 acres and was mapped on Monday at 460 acres. By Monday evening it was announced that the Red Bridge Fire was 90 percent contained and at 452 acres.
