Saturday is Earth Day and here’s some ideas of how to celebrate. Special Service District 1 is hosting an event at the Uintah Community Center of making a wrapped stick. This will utilize branches from the Kid’s Canal Cottonwood trees and colorful string to create a work of art. The teacher will be Jasmynn Lawson who is a Creative Coach and fiber artist. If you’d like to get creative for Earth Day and participate, get registered at the Uintah Community Center. The cost is $10. Of course there are plenty of free ways to celebrate Earth Day as well. The Division of Wildlife Resources suggests making a plan to clean up your habits by reducing plastic use and choosing to never litter. Try out the iNaturalist app as a place to record sightings of plants, insects, and wildlife. Providing community science observations is considered helpful data to biologists and researchers. The same thing applies to seasonal bird watching and reporting bird sightings to eBird.org. Find more ideas for celebrating Earth Day on www.wildlife.utah.gov
