Names have not been released in an incident that took place on April 2nd. The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office reports that they received information of an ice column falling while a group of three climbers were attempting to climb ice falls in Duchesne County near Indian Canyon. “An uninjured climber was able to climb down and drive to Duchesne City and contact 911,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “Another climber fell approximately 40 feet when the ice column fractured and was hoisted off the location by helicopter and Life Flighted to the Wasatch Front with serious injuries.” One climber was unaccounted for but was eventually located. The rescue effort included the Duchesne County, Utah County, and Wasatch County Search and Rescue teams along with Duchesne City Volunteer Fire Department and volunteer ice climbers.
