A hoax that has been happening across the country this year hit Utah on Wednesday. Utah Highway Patrol shared that multiple hoax calls claimed active shooter situations this week in various schools throughout the state. “These calls are taken very seriously and are immediately looked into by law enforcement agencies,” assured UHP. The public was encouraged to stay calm as they investigated the origin of the calls. The FBI investigation into nationwide ‘Swatting Calls’ has been ongoing and thankfully have found that none of the threats have been credible and that the calls generally are originating outside of the country. Thankfully no hoax calls were publicly reported by local school districts though locals on social media discussed the issue and their concerns for student safety as it was happening around the state.
