The Duchesne County Athlete of the Week is Union High School’s Jon Parker. Jon plays guard on the Union boys basketball team and is Union’s lead scorer. Union’s head basketball coach Gordon Garrett shares that Jon is an “all around player who makes others around him better.” Congratulations Jon Parker, Duchesne County Athlete of the Week! The Union boys basketball team took on American Leadership Academy on February 2nd. The Cougars finished the game with a score of Union 70 – ALA 57. The Union girls basketball team also battled the American Leadership Eagles on February 2nd. Union kept the lead and finished the game with a score of Union 61 – ALA 23. The lady Cougars traveled to Price on February 6th. Union’s continuous efforts came up short in the end with Union 53 – Carbon 62. There was a three way tie for first place in region between Union, Juab, and Carbon and with the chance of a flip of a coin Union girls took the third seed.
