Theft, especially in the remote areas of Duchesne County, continues to be a problem. An arrest this month is an example of how unattended properties are targeted. According to court documents, including the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 58-year-old Cole Cuttler Warner was arrested in the area of Coleman Drive in Fruitland on March 11th on the offenses of 3rd Degree Felony Theft and Misdemeanor Criminal Trespass. The arresting officer noted in the report that on March 6th there were 3 men identified stealing items and trailers in Fruitland from the property of a deceased individual. One of the men was arrested after one of the stolen trailers was seized from his property. On March 11th, this same officer was patrolling in Fruitland when he observed Cole Warner turn into a driveway. Warner was one of the men from the March 6th report. He ran Warner’s vehicle and it came up with no insurance so the officer conducted a traffic stop. Warner engaged in conversation about the March 6th arrest of Jeffery Giles who he said he had bailed out of jail. He admitted to the officer he had helped in the effort to take the trailer that day. While placing Warner under arrest, the Officer said he told Warner that he found it odd that he was found again at that moment on the property of yet another deceased person. Warner was transported to the Duchesne County Jail. He had a virtual hearing and was released from custody on certain conditions. His next court date is April 3rd.
