A special training event is happening next month in memory of a well respected and missed member of the law enforcement community. The 1st Annual Andrew Cox K9 Memorial Seminar is happening April 26th through the 28th in Roosevelt and Vernal. At 47-years-old, Andrew Cox passed away unexpectedly at his home in Uintah County on October 30th due to a fatal medical incident. The loss was widely felt among friends and family as well as in the law enforcement community where he served for over 20 years. Cox was best known for his dedication to the K-9 program and was a recognized expert in the field statewide. Following his passing, Naples City Police Department shared that his impact in the Uintah Basin could be seen far and wide as nearly all local law enforcement agencies expanded their K-9 programs with his influence and expertise. Prior to becoming Naples City Chief, Cox was a dedicated Lieutenant, Officer, and Detective and garnered great respect from those around him throughout his life. He served in various capacities over his long law enforcement tenure, including working with Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, Roosevelt City Police, US Marshal’s VFAST Program, Uintah Basin Narcotics Strike Force, and UBTech POST Academies.
