The Department of Workforce Services released the latest employment data this week. Employment for January 2023 increased by 2.8 percent since January 2022, adding 46,400 jobs to the state economy in that time. The state’s current job count is 1,680,400. In Daggett County there are 334 employed which is slightly up from one year ago. In Duchesne County there are 8,213 employed which is up 316 from one year ago. Uintah County there are 13,517 employed which is up 775 from one year ago. “Utah begins the new year right where the old one left off, with a strong economy employing large amounts of new labor,” shares DWS Chief Economist Mark Knold. “Each year in January, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reviews the past year’s employment rates and makes revisions based on updated information. The year-end revisions for 2022 show an economy that grew more rapidly than originally estimated.” Updated county unemployment data is expected late this week.
