Uintah County Man Arrested and Charged for Enticing 10-Year-Old Boy

A Uintah County man was in 8th District Court on Monday advised of the charges and penalties against him following his February 28th arrest in Salt Lake City. 30-year-old Donald Flayne Massey has been charged with 3rd Degree Felony Enticing of a Minor by Internet or Text Message. Court documents outline a disturbing correspondence by text message between Massey and a 10-year-old North Carolina boy. The majority of the 48 text messages included in the police’s Probable Cause Statement were sexual in nature with Massey inviting or referencing potential sexual contact between Massey and the boy. Vernal Police began their investigation after being contacted by a Detective in North Carolina on February 7th. In the Vernal Police Detective’s statement is says, “Donald Massey has exhibited this same behavior in the past here locally and in different states.” It also says that, “Based on the facts outlined…it is clear that Donald Massey knowingly uses the Internet or text messaging to solicit, seduce, lure, or entice a minor…” Massey is being held in Uintah County Jail. On Monday, Massey was appointed counsel and his bail hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, March 6th.
