There is a public meeting being held tonight in Craig concerning a proposed watershed project taking place in Wyoming. The proposed project is called the West Fork Battle Creek Watershed Plan and it explores construction of a dam and reservoir on the West Fork of Battle Creek in Carbon County Wyoming. While the project seems located far away, its effect will influence Wyoming and Colorado along the Little Snake River, which in turn joins the Yampa River, just east of Dinosaur National Monument. The primary goal of the proposed dam and reservoir is to provide a late season supplemental water supply to serve approximately 19,000 acres of irrigated lands in the Little Snake River Basin. The Environmental Impact Statement public scoping period is open until February 13th. There will be a public scoping meeting held tonight, January10th, in Craig, Colorado. The meeting will be at 5pm at Colorado Northwest Community College.
