There is nothing quite as iconic as the bald eagle. February is the best time to see these beautiful birds in Utah. According to Utah’s Division of Wildlife Resources, “bald eagles fly to Utah in the winter to find food and escape colder conditions farther north. By the time February arrives, hundreds of eagles are typically in the state.” The closest event will be in Uintah County at the Ouray National Wildlife Refuge in Randlett. There will be DWR biologists available to answer questions and to help participants spot golden and bald eagles on the refuge. While there will be spotting scopes and binoculars available to use, it is recommended you bring your own. Plan on the bathroom facilities to be open at the refuge during the event. While the event is free, participants are encouraged to register in advance on Eventbrite. There is plenty of time as the event will be held Saturday, February 18th from 9am to noon.
