Identity Confirmed On December 16th Officer Involved Critical Incident

Multiple sources have confirmed that the individual fatally involved in the December 16th incident at a hotel in Ballard was Arden Charles Post of Fort Duchesne. The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office released the following information on December 16th, the day of the incident, though they did not identify Post in the press release. Deputies were dispatched to a motel in Ballard on a report of a fight on December 16th at approximately 3:30am. While en route to the location, assistance was requested from the Bureau of Indian Affairs Police. Law enforcement encountered Post in the room where the disturbance was reported. Post produced a firearm and shot and struck a BIA officer in the officer’s ballistic vest. Multiple officers returned fire. Aid was given on scene but Post later died at the hospital. The BIA officer was treated at a local hospital and later released. Services for Post were held on Thursday, December 22nd.
