Time was taken during Wednesday’s Uintah School Board meeting to recognize service given to the District. Harlan “Scoot” Wilkins was recognized and thanked by the board as his term comes to an end. Uintah School District shared that “Wilkins was elected to the school board in November 2018. Earlier this year the Uintah County Commission realigned district boundaries, as required by law. The realignment meant School Board President Dave Chivers became the representative for District #1 and Wilkins became an at-large board member.” Wilkins term expires on December 31st.
The board also took time to recognize a young alumni, former Uintah High student body president Brant Johnson. Johnson led the effort to have the new Uintah Resilience Arch made and put up over the UHS property’s west entrance. Johnson’s stepfather Greg Goodrich was also recognized because his company, GWG Welding, donated the materials and welding for the project. The arch was erected before this school year and makes for an impressive entrance full of Ute pride.
