Smiles are contagious at each year’s Shop With A Cop events and this year was no exception. Shop With A Cop was held on Saturday in Roosevelt at Stewart’s Market/Ace Hardware. “This is one of our favorite days of the year where we are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Shop with a Cop event organized by the Roosevelt Police Department,” shares Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office. “This program has proven to be a positive event and is well received in communities throughout the state giving smiles to children that may not have the opportunities to enjoy the holidays without it.” Shop With A Cop first came to Utah in 1990 as a program through K-Mart. In 2003, K-Mart discontinued the event after corporate reorganization and the Salt Lake Police Department took the steps to see it continue. The goodwill fostered between kids and officers inspired agencies throughout Utah to participate and hold their own Shop With A Cop events. The Duchesne County event included officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Roosevelt PD, EMTs, UBMC Ambulance crew and nurses, Ute Tribal Ambulance Crew, Utah Highway Patrol and Duchesne County Victims Advocates.
