Tossing teddy bears is a cherished part of the game of hockey and the Vernal Oilers are hosting their charity event this weekend. Last season the Oilers and their fans flooded the ice with hundreds of stuffed animals to help those in need. They have teamed up once again with the Uintah County Sheriff’s Offices for the event and are inviting everyone to gather as many stuffed animals as you can and bring them to this Saturday’s game against the Rock Springs Prospectors. For those new to the concept of a Teddy Bear Toss, this really is a big deal in the sport of hockey. In fact, the world record for a teddy bear toss took place in January 2022 during a Hershey Bears Hockey game in Hershey, Pennsylvania. They collected 52,341 stuffed animals during that single event. This Saturday’s game is at the Western Park Ice Rink at 8pm.
