It was an unbelievable night at the Hotel Vernal Haunt celebration dinner where the record breaking grand total raised during the 2022 Haunt was announced and local charities were awarded.
This year exceeded last year’s record total of $68,000 with the 2022 Haunt raising $72,000 over 10 nights of frights. Before awarding the charities, event organizers Quinn Bennion and Megan Carroll-Munoz provided some behind the scenes information. Over 106 local businesses made donations in support of the event. There were over 250 volunteers this year who put in a combined 8000 volunteer hours. The Haunt welcomed 6,785 guests over 10 spooky nights and the UnHaunt tours welcomed over 400 guests over 3 afternoons. Carroll-Munoz shared that the goals of the event are to have fun, bring an event downtown, connect the community, have a safe place for teens and others to celebrate the Halloween season, and to raise funds for local charities. The Dreams In Motion charity was presented with a check for $11,000. The Civil Air Patrol was presented with a check for $26,000. Be The Light Recovery was presented with a check for $32,000. As an added award, Uintah County Search and Rescue, who volunteered with security every night of the Haunt, was presented with a check for $3,000. The total money raised for local charities over the 5 years of this event is $278,000.
