Local schools are enjoying opportunities to celebrate National Native American Heritage Month. Lapoint Elementary had an assembly last week. “We are grateful to the Ute Indian Tribe for volunteering their time and putting on an assembly to kick off National Native American Heritage Month,” shared Lapoint Principal Don Heath. “We also had the Red Spirit Drummers attend and make it a very special presentation.” Heath said they are grateful for the partnership with the Ute Tribe Education Department and their efforts on behalf of Lapoint Elementary students. Eagle View Elementary had a different kind of presentation to kick off Native American Heritage Month. They enjoyed a visit from the Ute Indian Tribe Fish and Wildlife Department who shared a presentation that included a display of many animals. It was an exciting and interesting experience for all!
