The transfer of the Recreation Special Service District to the new Special Service District (SSD) #1 continues and was a matter of business during the Uintah County Commission meeting on Monday. The Commission recessed into the Municipal Building Authority (MBA) for the agenda item which was to transfer the lease for the Recreation Center building from the Recreation Special Service District to the Special Service District #1. Uintah County Deputy Attorney Jonathan Stearmer shared some background. The MBA owns the building and has the financing for the building. In 2008, the Recreation District entered into a sublease with the MBA to cover the payments on the building loan. The sublease rental payment was $166,000 dollars annually with the payments running through the year 2037. Stearmer explained that the Recreation District is expected to be dissolved in the coming weeks before the end of the year and that the sublease needs transferred to SSD #1 so that they can continue all the obligations under the sublease. Acting as the MBA, the Commissioners unanimously approved transferring the sublease to the new District. The SSD #1 is scheduled to meet on November 16th.
