It’s amazing to see the changes happening in downtown Vernal but some of the projects
will be less noticeable. The 100 South Sewer project is currently under design and it is
one that is long overdue. It will ultimately replace the undersized current sewer line with
a larger sewer line. “While this is not the most visible or exciting project,” explains
Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion, “the 100 South sewer line is severely undersized
and the upgrade enables additional development in downtown.” While it can be difficult
to keep up on everything happening, there is a group that’s sole aim is to initiate and
discuss projects for downtown as well as just promote and advocate for downtown. The
Downtown Vernal Alliance meets monthly and is made up of business owners, residents
and city and county officials who Bennion says all work together to build a better
downtown and implement the downtown plan.
