The man arrested for kidnapping a Roosevelt teen in March was in federal court this week. Oil City News out of Casper, Wyoming reported that 25-year-old Christopher S. Evans pleaded Guilty at a federal courthouse in Casper on Monday as part of a plea agreement. Evans was indicted by a federal grand jury in May for transporting a minor across state lines “with intent to commit sexual contact and commit sexual intrusion.” Through Evan’s online accounts, the police tracked his cell phone and around 3:00pm on March 10th, he and the girl were found at a Love’s truck stop in Cheyenne, Wyoming inside of the semi-truck. Evans has admitted that he knew the girl was 13 and that they were dating and planning to live together in Florida. While in court on Monday it was outlined that Evans will serve a minimum of 10 years in federal prison and the charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. Oil City News reported that Evans admitted on Monday that he initially believed the girl was 16 years old but soon after picking her up learned that she was actually 13. He also admitted to having sexual contact with the victim.
