Veteran Walking For A Cause Passing Through Uintah Basin

A veteran is walking across America and this week is passing through the Uintah Basin.  “I became homeless after I got out of the Army, so I began walking between towns to look for work,” shares Jake Sansing of ‘Jake Walks America’.  “I realized walking was helping my PTSD, so I decided to walk across America. Alone and unsupported, I spent the next three years traveling from Tennessee to Delaware, to California, to Florida, to Alaska, back to Florida, and back to California again. I then wrote a book about all of my experiences.” His goal is to raise enough money from book sales to start a nonprofit campground that will be designed to help veterans with PTSD. His mission has garnered interest from many people across the country. In addition, he has been able to highlight people and causes that help veterans. While traveling through the Uintah Basin he has connected with and shown support for another cause supporting veterans called Oasis Gardens between Myton and Roosevelt. He said of the experience, “They are working on a veteran readjustment program here and wanted me to check out what they have so far. They may become part of my team for Utah. It’s a bit different than what I’m putting together, but it may be a good umbrella partnership.” He arrived in Fruitland on Sunday and is due to arrive in Roosevelt today.
