A judge will help settle the differences between Dutch John and Daggett County. The latest update from the Daggett County Commission states that “Dutch John has formally filed a Notice of Claim suing Daggett County to have a judge determine the language of the privatization of Dutch John. The goal for Dutch John is to have the judge adjudicate the privatization to give them 84.9 percent of the revenue on the sale of land, the other 15.1 percent is paid to the Federal government, leaving no resources to the county.” The two entities have worked together on many aspects of the transition, understanding there would likely be items they would not find common ground on. The Commission shared in March that agreements were in place for Daggett County to turn all the buildings, land, and equipment – including water and sewer systems in Dutch John – over to the Dutch John township. They also had an agreement on water but had yet to reach common ground on the land owned by Daggett County within Dutch John and now a judge will make that determination.
