The Uintah Animal Control and Shelter Special Service District has released their statistics for August and September. Animal control officers answered 595 calls for service and drove 6,330 miles.
At the Animal Shelter there were 166 felines, 145 canines and 5 guinea pigs impounded. Of those animals that were impounded 70 were claimed, 28 were adopted from the shelter, 155 were released to 501c3 animal rescue groups, 16 died after impound, 27 were euthanized, 1 escaped impound and 61 animals were still at the shelter at the end of September.
The numbers for the livestock and urban livestock impounds include 8 Horses, 1 mule, 12 goats, 1 Rooster, 3 rabbits and 1 pot belly pig. Of those animals 11 were claimed, 7 were sold at auction, 1 was released to rescue, 1 was euthanized due to injuries and 6 were still at the shelter at the end of September.
