TriCounty Health Hosting Basic Naloxone Training

by | Oct 6, 2022 | News | 0 comments

NARCAN saves lives and average citizens are encouraged to learn how to administer the
dose. TriCounty Health Department is making this possible by offering training to
recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer the opioid overdose
reversal drug. Some examples of opioids include heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone
(oxycontin), hydrocodone (Vicodin), codeine and morphine. Naloxone is a medicine that
rapidly reverses an opioid overdose.

Naloxone can quickly restore normal breathing to a person if their breathing has slowed or stopped because of an opioid overdose but naloxone has no effect on someone who does not have opioids in their system. It is not a treatment for opioids in their system. It is not a treatment for opioid use.

There is training at both the Roosevelt and Vernal TriCounty Health Department buildings and the next one will be on Wednesday the 12th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Get registered at www.tricountyhealth.com.
