The time and hard work of three Vernal youth paid off over the weekend at the Utah State Fair. Stetson Rothlisberger, Rigden Horrocks, and Josie Wilkins each entered their steer in the biggest fair in the state and came out on top. Stetson Rothlisberger was Grand Champion for Senior Showmanship, Rigden Horrocks was Grand Champion for Junior Showmanship, and Josie Wilkins was Reserve Grand Champion for Junior Showmanship. Winning in showmanship takes a lot of time working with the animal and being ready to present it to the judge, especially with steer. “The kids put in a lot of hard work at home all year long with the steers,” shares Erin Horrocks, Rigden’s mother. “There are lots of early mornings, late nights, and working with the animals to be able to win in the showmanship contest. It’s all about the work at home.” Congratulations to these three exceptional youth!
