Jim Marshall, President and CEO of Uintah Basin Healthcare, presented an update on the Vernal campus expansion project during Tuesday’s Vernal Chamber luncheon. The Vernal campus expansion got underway in the fall of 2020 and after a challenging 2 years due to the pandemic, supply chain issues, and staff shortages, Level 1 with the new Emergency Room will open on October 3rd. Marshall introduced the Vernal on-site leadership, including Dr. Karl Breitenbach as the Vernal Chief Medical Officer. “A significant portion of our patient base comes from Uintah County, therefore, we realized the importance of improving access by growing services in Vernal,” shared Marshall. Level 1 of the facility will include the ER as well as expanded radiology and expanded lab services. Once complete, Level 2 and 3 will be clinical space. The UBH Vernal Dialysis facility will also open but it is housed on the campus in its own building. The Vernal Campus Expansion Grand Opening and Open House is taking place this Thursday from noon to 2pm.
