The weather held out for a great day of fishing on Saturday for the Flaming Gorge Fish Derby. The annual Flaming Gorge Fish Derby is one of the largest freshwater fishing derbies in the USA with up to 400 teams each year competing in multiple categories. This year was the first year for the new team weight category in Lake Trout pups to help increase harvest on that size class and grow larger lake trout. The first place winners this year included Kurt Barton for Lake Trout, Ed Brough for Rainbow Trout, Levi McNiel for Smallmouth Bass, Bryan Watterson for Kokanee Salmon, Jeff Grant for Brown Trout, and Ed Brough for Catfish. The event awarded thousands of dollars in cash and prizes to the teams and participants.
