Pine Ridge Fire Burning Northwest of Vernal

Crews continue to battle a wildfire in the Pine Ridge area of Deep Creek/Dry Fork. According to

, the Pine Ridge Fire was called in
at 1:03pm Saturday afternoon
on private and BLM land 18 miles northwest of Vernal. Structures were reported as threatened and Lapoint/Tridell, Jensen and Vernal Fire Departments focused on structure protection. The fire is burning in pinyon, juniper, sage and grass. Resources have included air attack, heavy air tankers, single engine air attack, fire modules, and approximately a dozen engines. As of
Saturday night
, Utah Fire Info reported the fire had reached 150 to 200 acres with no containment. The imminent threat to structures had diminished but was still there. The cause remains under investigation. Uintah Basin Communications reported that Massey Meadow Campground and BLM campgrounds in the area were evacuated per the order of the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office. The public is asked to stay clear of the area as fire personnel are coming and going.
