The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources continues its projects to restore native cutthroat trout. Their next project will take place this month using rotenone within the Middle Fork of the Sheep Creek drainage in the Ashley National Forest. “The treatment on Middle Fork Sheep Creek will occur September 27th, 2018,” shares Ashley National Forest. “The closure is necessary to allow ground crews to work safely in and around Middle Fork Sheep Creek without harm or injury to the public. All use of the water within the project area will be prohibited. This rotenone treatment is to rid all species of fish in those streams, ponds, and tributaries to restore native Colorado River cutthroat trout.” Everything within 30 feet of Middle Fork Sheep Creek and its associated ponds, seeps, spring, and other tributaries downstream to North Fork Sheep Creek will be closed. Again, the treatment will occur on September 27th.
