Moffat County Officially Opposes Colorado’s Proposition 112

Moffat County Commissioners passed a resolution this week to officially oppose Colorado’s Proposition 112. Proposition 112 focuses on minimum distance requirements for new oil, gas, and fracking projects in Colorado and the ballot initiative is meeting opposition from oil and gas supporters. The Moffat County Commissioners are sending a clear message that Proposition 112 will harm the Colorado energy sector by implementing even more regulations in the already highly regulated state, reports the Craig Daily Press. The opposition to the initiative crosses both sides of the aisle as Democrats and Republicans alike are announcing their disapproval. The ballot proposition states that oil and gas wells must remain at least 2,500 feet from “vulnerable areas” as well as away from human occupied buildings. Craig City Council has also announced their formal opposition of Proposition 112.
