Man Steals Vehicle in Duchesne County, Critically Injures Pregnant Woman and Husband in Crash Near Heber

A 22-year-old man driving a vehicle reported as stolen out of Duchesne County caused a crash on Saturday near Heber City that critically injured a pregnant woman and her husband. According to the Probable Cause Statement, the accident occurred on Highway 40 at milepost 31 when suspect Tyson Uresti crossed the center line crashing into an oncoming vehicle. Uresti fled the scene of the accident on foot traveling westbound on Highway 40. The two occupants of the other vehicle were in critical condition. One was airlifted from the scene while the other was transported by ambulance. Sheriff’s deputies spotted Uresti and upon speaking to him he confirmed that he was involved in the accident and had sustained injuries. He also later confirmed that he was traveling approximately 75 to 80 miles per hour at the time of the accident which was in a 60 miles per hour zone. He was transported to Heber Valley Medical Center where he was treated. During that time, Wasatch County dispatch reported that the vehicle driven by Uresti was recently stolen out of Duchesne County. Uresti was then booked into Wasatch County Jail on a warrant for his arrest out of Provo. Charges against Uresti filed in 4th District Court on Monday include felony Transfer of a Stolen Vehicle, misdemeanor Failure to Remain at an Accident Involving Injury, Reckless Driving, Failure to Stay in One Lane, and No Valid Driver’s License. A Go Fund Me page under the name ‘Shantell, Macoy & Sweet Baby Boy’ shared by loved ones was created for the injured couple on Sunday inviting all who felt moved to contribute to help with medical costs as the family fights for their lives.
