A large scale search for a missing Rock Springs hunter was unsuccessful on Saturday. 74-year-old Terry Meador was reported missing on October 25th when he failed to return from a solo hunting trip. His unoccupied vehicle was found badly stuck north of the summit of Pine Mountain and searches of the area began on October 26th. On Saturday, a search was conducted with a massive volunteer effort. “Over 150 people volunteered. The public’s response was wonderful,” shared Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell. Once the group was briefed

and teams were created, searches of specific areas were deployed on and around Pine Mountain. The volunteers were joined by Sheriff’s deputies, canine teams, Sweetwater County Search & Rescue, Tip Top Search & Rescue of Pinedale, and a helicopter provided by University of Utah Air Med. “Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful,” shared Sheriff Lowell. “We were unable to locate Mr. Meador or any additional clues to his route or whereabouts after he left his vehicle.” The areas searched between October 26th and through this weekend amounts to over 60 square miles. The Sheriff’s Office urged anyone who continues to search to be careful of dangerous weather and ground conditions that will now become steadily worse so have the proper equipment and let someone know where you will be.
