The state of Utah is celebrating the Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service. Governor Gary Herbert and Lt. Governor Spencer Cox are asking members of the public to honor this day by giving to their local food pantry. Due to the government shutdown, local food pantries have seen an increased need of donations. The state has 10,000 furloughed employees that are in need at this time. In the Uintah Basin we have federal employees that have been without a paycheck for almost a month, without any resolution in site. Consider donating generously to the local food pantry to help aid those being affected by the government shutdown and to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
