2021 was a busy year for the Roosevelt City Fire Department. Their annual report states that in 2021, the Roosevelt City Volunteer Fire Department responded to 162 fire calls. The average response time in city limits was 9 minutes and the average response time for Duchesne County, Uintah County, and tribal limits was 13 minutes. The department responded to 46 wildland fires, 11 vehicle fires, 3 dumpster fires, 10 structure fires, 3 extractions, and 61 false alarms. 352 man-hours were spent responding to false alarms which were up 27 percent since 2020. Also up from the year before was vehicle fires by 57% and extractions by 50%. It should be noted and appreciated that Roosevelt City’s Fire Department is 100% volunteer. “This means that when there is a call, each firefighter has to stop what they’re doing, get to the station, change, and get out on the road as quickly as possible.” Thank you to all the amazing volunteer firefighters!
