Imagine being stranded in sub-zero temperatures after your snowmobile became stuck. For one 80-year-old man this scenario played out in the area of the Strawberry River and thankfully he survived the ordeal. Wasatch County Search and Rescue shared that dispatch was notified that an 80-year-old male had contacted his family about his snowmobile becoming disabled and reported that he was going to walk out. After the family was unable to locate him, Search and Rescue were notified and three snowmobile teams, the Department of Public Safety helicopter, and EMS responded to the Strawberry River. The man was located and transported by helicopter to the trailhead. The rescue duration was clocked at 4 hours with the man located just before midnight in temperatures of 16 below zero.
