TriCounty Health has announced that as of Monday, the health department has changed the way it will report COVID-19 cases, including the termination of the weekly transmission report. The data from the case counts will remain on the website “as a snapshot of what the tri-county area has experienced, but will no longer be updated.” Information focusing on vaccination information will also remain on the website. “Between vaccinations and recent Omicron variant exposures, our hospitals no longer face an imminent threat of being overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients,” shares Health Officer Kirk Benge. “We expect seasonal outbreaks of COVID-19 moving forward, but the risk of seeing high numbers of patients experiencing severe disease continues to diminish, and is unlikely to spike to concerning levels in the near future.” COVID-19 hospitalization statistics will continue to be reported.
