A 72-year-old woman is in custody after she shot her roommate with a handgun Friday afternoon in Jensen. According to a press release from the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the residence in Jensen at approximately 2:25 p.m. on the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, a 59-year-old man was found outside the residence with a gunshot wound. The woman involved was also at the residence and was taken into custody without incident. Investigators believe the two roommates were engaged in an argument that led to the shooting.The victim was airlifted to a Wasatch Front hospital. The woman, 72-year-old Gloria Cates, was booked into the Uintah County Jail for investigation of attempted murder. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Cates is currently being held for attempted murder. The 59-year old victim was listed in stable condition at a Wasatch Front hospital at the time of the Sheriff’s Office update.
