Not everyone catches the Christmas spirit during October but there’s a special cause worth making an exception for. Donations are now being collected for the purpose of brightening the holidays for local elderly community members. “Thank you to all of those who have participated in the past years to help make Christmas a little brighter for our seniors!” shares organizer Tiffany Henline. “It’s that time of year to start collecting donations again for our 6th Annual Sub For Seniors. With COVID-19 our seniors have been stuck at home and are in more need this year than ever…350 seniors are counting on our community. Please consider making them a priority this holiday season by dropping off items or money to the Golden Age Center, now until December 4th!” The following donation ideas are encouraged: non perishable food items, pet food and treats, blankets, large print crossword and word search books, colored pencils, activity books, puzzles, playing cards, slippers and socks, hygiene items, gloves and warm gear, and holiday treats. All donations need to be dropped off at the Golden Age Center no later than December 4th. Any business cash donations need to go through Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley 501(c)(3).
