The 5th annual Disabled Outdoorsmen Utah Ice Fishing Event is almost here and this is one you won’t want to miss. This unique event is taking place Saturday, January 6th starting at 8am at Steinaker State Park. “Everyone is invited,” shares coordinator Sidney Smith. “This is targeted towards people with disabilities and uses able bodies to help them on the ice, getting them set up and able to catch a fish.” Smith is a double amputee but that doesn’t slow him down or his passion for outdoor adventures, including all kinds of hunting and fishing. Smith is one of the founders of Disabled Outdoorsmen Utah. Specialized equipment is used to make the ice fishing experience possible for the vast range of physical abilities. There will be fun games, raffle items, and good food. Volunteers are still needed for this tournament. Participants and volunteers are asked to RSVP at www.DoUtah.org/events.
