A fun and favorite annual ice fishing event has been cancelled “due to the warm weather and sketchy ice conditions”. This would have been the 5th annual Disabled Outdoorsmen Ice Fishing Event on Steinaker Reservoir. It was originally scheduled for January 6th and was pushed back to give the ice more time to fully form. The new plans were for February 10th but it’s been determined that safety on the ice will still be an issue. Event coordinator Sidney Smith made the announcement this week. “It’s with sadness that we are canceling our 5th Disabled Outdoorsmen Ice Fishing Event,”shared Smith. “We will pick it up again in January 2025!” This ice fishing event is special as it is focused on providing an ice fishing experience for everyone, especially those whose disabilities may have kept them from such experiences in the past.
