$50 Million Awarded For Infrastructure In Upper Colorado River Basin

The Department of the Interior announced on Monday the awarding of $50 million dollars over the next 5 years for the improvement of water infrastructure across the Upper Colorado River Basin. According to the announcement, the Bureau of Reclamation is making an initial $8.7 million dollar investment in fiscal year 2023 to support drought mitigation efforts in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. “As we look toward the next decade of Colorado River guidelines and strategies,” shares Deputy Secretary Tommy Beaudreau, “we are simultaneously making smart investments now that will make our path forward stronger and more sustainable.” This funding will also help further Drought Contingency Planning activities in the Upper Colorado River Basin.
