The region’s largest retail trade show is happening this weekend at the Western Park. 31 years ago, Evans Family Media accepted the opportunity to produce the Home and Garden Show. It was previously an event put on by the Lions Club but they had decided not to continue with it. Evans Family Media owner Steve Evans recalls that the first year the show occupied just 2 of the conference rooms in Western Park. By the second year the conference rooms were full and the show began expanding down the halls and eventually into the indoor arena. Now it is at capacity in Western Park with over 100 vendors and has expanded its name to be the Annual Home and Garden Show and Outdoor Expo. The show is intentionally scheduled each year for the 3rd week in March after the official start of spring. “Thousands of families have made this an annual tradition,” shares Evans. “It is an opportunity for friends and neighbors with cabin fever to get out on one of the first beautiful weekends in spring and come down to visit, have a good lunch, and enjoy seeing the wonderful varied services offered locally.” The 31st Annual Home and Garden Show and Outdoor Expo is happening this Friday and Saturday, March 22nd and 23rd, at the Western Park. Admission is free and concessions are available.
