A long standing community tradition, now sponsored by the Division of Wildlife Resources, is coming up next week. In its 31st year, the annual Josie Shoot is a .22 shooting competition for women of all ages inspired by local legend Josie Bassett Morris, a gun slinging, independent woman of the wild, wild west. “This event is designed to give women a supportive, encouraging and comfortable atmosphere where they can learn and improve their shooting skills while competing for prizes. This event is free to all attendees.”Two years ago, it was feared the event had come to an end after Carole Jackson, the woman who chaired the event for over 2 decades, had passed away. Her family hosted the event one final time in her honor and thankfully, the Division of Wildlife Resources took it over and partnered with Safari Club International of Northeastern Utah to keep it alive. This year’s event is
Saturday, June 29th, at 8am
at the Vernal Rod and Gun Club. For more information, call
