It is not often that we can share in the experience of a truly amazing person as they achieve something impossible. Well now we can. Sidney Smith is a well known community member who in his spare time takes on amazing challenges, inspiring countless people in the process. As a double-amputee, his recent accomplishment of climbing King’s Peak, the highest mountain in Utah, is gaining the attention it deserves. This hike was a lifelong dream for Sidney, fueled by memories of epic outdoor adventures that his dad and brothers would take but he couldn’t. Now free of the feet that held him back in his youth, Sidney decided to use his state-of-the-art walking prosthetics to fulfill the experience that he had missed out on. Joining him on his trip was his father and his son, three generations involved in fulfilling a lifelong pursuit. The experience was filmed by V6 Media and made into a short documentary film. The film, entitled “3 Sons & A King”, recently won “Best Short Documentary Film” at the California International Film Festival. The film can be found on YouTube. Congratulations Sidney and thank you for showing us all the power of hard work and determination!
