A 21-year-old woman has been life flighted to a Wasatch Front hospital for serious injuries after being hit by a car and dragged. The victim’s mother shared with Evans Family Media that the accident took place around 11am on Tuesday at the intersection by the Rec Center in Vernal. The victim was riding an electric bike when she was hit and dragged several blocks down 500 South in Vernal. She also shared that the young lady was screaming so loud that the residents on 500 South could hear her. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and drove away. The victim has a fractured neck and elbow and severe road rash. Vernal Police issued a press release on Tuesday evening, stating that Vernal Police Officers and Detectives were able to locate the suspect vehicle in a local apartment complex. A person of interest was detained and taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing. Vernal PD offered thanks to the witnesses and members of the community that assisted as well as the other agencies involved in the apprehension of the suspect.
