If you’re in the mood to be part of history in the making then it’s time to get working on
your audition number for this year’s Outlaw Trail Theater production. ‘Let’s Go! A John
Wesley Powell Story’ combines the unbelievable journey of Powell with the enchanting
music of award winning singer/songwriter Alan Doyle and it is making its debut this
summer in Uintah County. Local Jonathan Stearmer got the idea to write a play about
Powell as he helped organize the John Wesley Powell River Fest back in 2019. A fan of
his music, Stearmer approached folk singer Alan Doyle about using his music in the
production and Doyle gave it some thought and got on board. Gaining rights to the songs
took several years as it is a long, legal process that requires getting approval from many
individuals. Hundreds of emails later that process wrapped up in 2023 and the production
was announced to debut as the 2024 Outlaw Trail Theater production running June 24th
through July 6th. Auditions are anticipated to take place April 9th and 10th.
